Beware: Scam Text Overload
This month’s Legal Brief follows last month’s tips for recognizing spammers. Important to beware, spam texts are so prevalent. We received so many spam texts just within the last 48 hours. Significantly more than before.
Stay Alert
Some of these truly made me pause and wonder, always double check with someone else if you are not sure. Additionally, err on the side of caution. Beware, scam texts are not going away any time soon.
- To be safe, never click on a link in a text from someone you don’t know.
- Delete and report messages from numbers that are not in your contacts.
- Know you can also block numbers, but spammers often use several different numbers.
- Watch for oddly written or spelled sentences, phrases, or words.
- If the link sent is a bunch or random letters and/or numbers it’s likely spam.
- Do they address you by the wrong name?
- Does the text mention some award or deal that doesn’t sound at all familiar?
